"Since all the content is being streamed to you, you will need a fairly decent internet connection,"
This is completely inaccurate. Node pushes its content through a satellite dish, so there is no reliance on a broadband connection to get the movie and TV content.
Altech's #Node is disrupting technology, and just the answer to SA's fixed/mobile broadband woes. Whilst everyone else is climbing over themselves to offer broadband streaming services on infrastructure owned/dictated/throttle by a single telco, these guys (and probably others soon to follow) will be sitting pretty, high up in the clouds - literally. Altech #Node, we're impressed!
Teehee, a few typos slipping through here ("To find out what we thought about NODE during a hands-on sessions, click here" - where?), but otherwise a great comparison, thank you!
Considering I already have a computer AND satelite decoder I don't see the appeal of spending thousands of rands on yet another device when I can just stream things without that layout... I hope VIDI keeps updating their content, I am seriously considering this option. Especially since there's no risk in giving it a go (unlike Node).
I guess u guys are too old Live AndroidTV online streaming device is already available in South Africa & NO subscription fees required. check this out>>> www.facebook.com/get2easysa
You might be right (I'm definitely too old. Anyone want to swap some of my hard earned wisdom for their sparkly youth?) AndroidTV looks really interesting but I don't think we've come across it before. Want to ping me an email (adam at htxt coza) and we'll have a chat about a potential review?

I would go with netflix but the netflix isn't quite popular around here.
